Here at The English Bed Company, we get a lot of enquiries regarding Standard UK Bed Sizes. It seems there is an element of confusion when it comes to finding the standard sizes for mattresses in the UK.
We’ve put together this quick blog post to highlight the variety of sizes you can find on sale.
Single – 3′ x 6’3 or 90cm x 190cm – Ideal for children or an occasional guest bed, this size offers delicate proportions with a modest sized sleeping area for one person.
Double – 4’6″ x 6’3″ or 135cm x 190cm – Ample sleeping area for one person or useful for couples with space restrictions, a double mattress blends space and utility well.
King Size – 5′ x 6’6″ or 150cm x 200cm – The go-to size for couples and master bedrooms. Offers a comfortable sleeping area for two people and a little extra leg room for those of a taller stature.
Super King Size – 6′ x 6’6″ or 180cm x 200cm – Offering extra luxury and space over the standard King Size, for those wanting a little more from their sleeping experience.
Emperor – 7′ x 7′ or 215cm x 215cm – Everything is said in the name, a bed size suitable for an Emperor. Room for two people to stretch out to their fullest and have room to spare; the height of luxury but it does require a large room to fit!
