Beginners Guide to Bedroom Feng Shui

If you’re not sleeping well, or don’t feel fully comfortable in your bedroom space, it may be because the arrangement of your furniture is just not sitting right. But before you shuffle, pull and drag everything about – read our beginners bedroom Feng Shui tips that will help make your bedroom feel that little bit more relaxing.

#1

The bed is the most important aspect of bedroom furniture and the best possible placement for this piece of furniture is placed to the left or right (diagonally) as you enter your doorway. This will allow for a little bit of privacy if your door where to be open, whilst still enabling you to be in a position to see in and out of your room as best as possible whilst sitting on your bed. Avoid placing your bed against walls with doors or windows as this can create a sense of unease.

#2

The most obvious way to create a relaxing bedroom area is to de clutter your room completely. If you are lucky enough to have a spare or unused room, decide what you use on a day-to-day basis and store everything else in your spare room. This might seem drastic, but creating a space that feels fresh and tidy will help you look forward to tucking into bed each night, or spending more time in your room to read and relax.

#3

An easy bedroom Feng Shui tip; when possible, use symmetry to create a balanced atmosphere in your space. Two bedside tables, identical lamps on either side of your bed, the placement of draws, wardrobes, and even rugs and ornaments, will help you to accomplish this.

#4

Think about your colour choice carefully. Your favourite colour might not be what suits your home or bedroom space. For example, if the room is quite cold because of large windows or a small draft, blue is not an ideal choice – however could be if your room often feels overly warm. Red is associated with anger and passion, so if you suffer from anxiety or struggle to wind after a long day, this might not be the best option for you.

#5

Our final bedroom Feng Shui tip is to take a minute and really think about the layout before you begin moving furniture. Jumping in head first might result in frustration towards the project, which could result in an unfinished job, which would further result in unnecessary clutter and mess! Using masking tape on the floor can work as a good solution if you are moving into a new and empty room, or simply lying on your bed, taking a quiet moment and imagining how you would love your room to be (taking into account the tips and tricks above!)

We hope all of the above helps somewhat with reorganising your room. Please don’t forget to Like our Facebook page or follow us on Twitter (we often post special social offers!)
